The Wyoming State Golf Association is building a pathway for talented junior golfers to grow, compete and pursue their goals through Team Wyoming, part of the USGA’s U.S. National Development Program (USNDP).
Starting in 2028, Team Wyoming will bring together promising players from across the state and connect them with coaching, development resources and opportunities to take their games further. Our goal is to support these athletes while building a stronger future for junior golf in Wyoming.
Created by the USGA in 2023, the USNDP supports the development of American golfers. Its state team program gives junior athletes a local connection to that national effort.
Players will be evaluated using tournament results and other indicators of their development. Considerations may include:
Performance in designated events and season-long consistency.
Strength of competition and finishes in regional or national tournaments.
State and national junior rankings.
Improvement, work ethic and coachability.
Sportsmanship and conduct on and off the course.
Observations during competition and practice.
The WSGA will publish the final selection criteria, including any points system and discretionary selections. Team membership will be earned annually.
Team Wyoming will include four boys and four girls who demonstrate strong competitive achievement, potential for growth and the qualities needed to represent Wyoming well. Selection will consider more than tournament results, recognizing athletes who show sportsmanship, integrity, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. Players must be 13 years old when the team is officially named, have not reached their 19th birthday on or before July 15, 2028, and must not be enrolled in college for the 2027-2028 school year. Only players who are Wyoming residents and U.S. citizens are eligible for Team Wyoming.
The program will be supported by:
Matt Kantor, PGA — Team Captain
Andrew Stannard — Boys’ Coach
Dr. Miranda Kantor — Girls’ Coach
Committee Members
Our leadership will work to create a supportive environment where athletes can challenge themselves, learn from one another and take pride in representing Wyoming.
Team Wyoming athletes become part of the USNDP for their designated team year. However, the U.S. National Junior Team is selected separately by the USGA. A place on Team Wyoming does not automatically provide a place on the National Junior Team.
Yes. Athletes must maintain a Handicap Index with a scoring record of at least 20 scores, including eight competitive scores within the previous 12 months.
Maintaining a complete scoring record helps provide an accurate picture of a player’s game and competitive progress.
Team Wyoming will start in 2028 with Team Announcements in Fall of 2027. The WSGA will announce selection dates, qualifying events and the programming schedule through its website and junior golf communications.
Players and families are encouraged to follow these updates and review the selection requirements before the qualifying season.
The USNDP offers a grant program for eligible junior golfers whose families demonstrate financial need. Grants can help reduce financial barriers to development and competition.
Being selected for Team Wyoming does not guarantee financial assistance.

We look forward to helping Wyoming’s junior golfers build their skills, pursue new opportunities and represent our state with pride.
